Who Are We?

The Ratmobile project is an interdisciplinary student team located at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. We are designing and building an autonomous robotic vehicle to compete in the 6th International Ground Robotics Competition, to be held June 5 - June 7, 1999, at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. This team will design and construct an autonomous robotic vehicle that can negotiate the competition course, which requires navigating around obstacles and keeping within a 10 foot wide path delimited by white lines painted on grass, blacktop and sand. Prize money and international recognition are available to winning teams in three categories: standard course navigation, new challenge course navigation, and best design and presentation.

The team consists of 11 students at the freshman through graduate level, from 4 different departments (Aerospace,, Computer Science,Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering). All students will commit significant time to this project for the entire 98/99 academic year. The project is advised by Dr. Dale Lawrence (ASEN Assoc. Prof.) and assisted by Dr. Kevin Gifford (ASEN Res. Assoc.). Omnitech Robotics located in Englewood, Colorado is the project's primary sponsor.
